Fresh Skin Starts Here!
Gel cleansers are usually the most underestimated step. They come and go so quickly—lather, rinse, done—but somehow they set the tone for everything that follows. I didn’t think much about them before, until I realized the wrong one can throw everything off, while the right one makes the rest of your routine feel effortless.
These two ended up being my go-to, depending on what my skin is dealing with.

1. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

This one feels like a reset button. Whenever my skin gets a bit too oily, slightly congested, or just not cooperating, I reach for this without hesitation. It has that clean, almost crisp finish—like it actually clears the slate without going overboard. I wouldn’t call it harsh, but it definitely feels purposeful. After using it, my skin feels refreshed in a way that makes the rest of my routine sink in better, like everything has been properly prepped.

2. Simple Refreshing Face Wash

Completely different energy here. This one is easy, almost forgettable in the best way. It doesn’t try to fix anything dramatic—it just keeps things steady. I like using it when my skin feels normal or slightly sensitive, when I don’t want to risk overdoing it. It’s gentle, consistent, and doesn’t leave that tight feeling behind. The kind of cleanser you can use every day without second-guessing.
When I look at both, it’s not really about choosing one over the other. One steps in when things feel off, the other keeps everything quietly balanced. And having both just makes the whole routine feel a little more in tune with whatever my skin decides to do that day.
